I had the opportunity to participate as an invited speaker at the 1st North Florida Wildfire Science & Technology Workshop, an interdisciplinary event bringing together researchers, practitioners, and community partners working across wildfire science, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, data science, ecology, emergency response, and community resilience.
My presentation focused on infrastructure resilience under wildfire risk, highlighting the need to better understand how critical infrastructure systems can prepare for, respond to, and recover from wildfire events.
The workshop brought together expertise spanning wildfire cyberinfrastructure, atmospheric dynamics, fire ecology, evacuation and human mobility, prescribed burning, regional planning, and emergency response. The discussions also provided an important opportunity to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration across FSU, the RIDER Center, regional agencies, and community partners.
Aqsa Zahid—NHERI Computational Symposium 2026
Aqsa presented her research poster, “From Radar to Return Periods: SST Domain Delineation Using Spectral Graph Clustering for Extreme Rainfall Frequency Analysis.” Her work uses spectral graph clustering and radar rainfall data to identify homogeneous regions for extreme rainfall frequency analysis.

Eric participated in the NSF I-GUIDE Summer School on Spatial AI and Convergence Science. His team developed an Agentic AI for Wildfire Prediction system combining large language models, geospatial data, wildfire prediction, and evacuation-route recommendations.
